How To Wear a Graduation Cap for Natural Hair Types
Graduation is one of the most exciting times of the year. After putting in work for — taking exams, pulling all nighters, and writing papers until your fingers feel like they’re going to fall off — walking across the stage while your family and friends cheer you on can feel pretty awesome.
Lately, many grads have taken to decorating their caps in amazing ways with witty captions like “Nevertheless, she persisted,” or sayings from their favorite songs — but for others, there’s a bigger much problem looming over their culmination. Their caps won’t fit over their big hair!
Instead of straining their manes or rocking a style that tames their tresses, hair and beauty vlogger Chizi Duru created a cool, and super quick, tutorial to help grads with kinky and curly hair look absolutely flawless on their big day.
According to her YouTube channel, Chizi began vlogging about her 4c natural hair “because of the underrepresentation of kinkier hair textures,” but she’s since expanded it to include other topics like beauty tips, advice and her experience as a college student. In her latest video, Chizi includes a graduation cap hack that doesn’t involve heat, ponytails, or jabbing your scalp with uncomfortable bobby pins. Oh, and get this, all you need is a headband and some tape!
