Spider-Man: Homecoming composer shares reimagining of superhero’s classic theme

Spider-Man: Homecoming wouldn’t be a Spider-Man movie without the superhero’s classic jingle playing at some point in the film.

Fully aware of this, composer Michael Giacchino shared a quick snippet of his reimagined version of said theme on Twitter yesterday. Although far more orchestral than some may remember the Spider-Man theme as, the spirit of the classic song is there.

Following Giacchino’s unveiling of the song, fans wanted to know when this version of the song would appear in the film. Would it act as the song that played during the end-credits sequence, much like Marvel has done for other films including Iron Man 3, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange, which Giacchino also composed? Or would the composition actually be played at some point in the film, perhaps during one of the more climactic moments?

If you pay close attention to the video, you can see the new opening sequence for Marvel’s logo on the monitor in front of Giacchino. This is the same sequence that played during Doctor Strange and, more recently, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Although that sequence has its own composition, which was also created by Giacchino, Marvel may be using the classic Spider-Man theme as a way to celebrate Spider-Man returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for his first debut film. Prior to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man made an appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

Spier-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7.
