The humans have different connections and relationships with different species. Because there are many different species of birds around the planet, there are actually numerous Bird Days in the world. For instance, Bird Day, observed primarily in the United States is different from World Migratory Bird Day, which is the UK’s Bird Day.
The history of Bird Day started in 1894 when Charles Almanzo Babcock, the superintendent of schools in Oil City, Pennsylvania declared the first day in the US to celebrate birds. This day is actually what is known as International Migratory Bird Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about birds held in captivity. On the 5th of January every year, many children and adults in the USA wake up excited for the birdwatching. The celebrating of these adorable feathered creatures is now in its 14th year of celebrating. However, this year the organizers are encouraging people to take the “captive bird video pledge” and promise that they won’t share videos of captive “pet” birds. Also, if you want to learn some more about the people who are promoting the holiday, visit the website at Bird Day.
